FAQs

Do you offer studio Sessions?

My home studio is just one end of the living room in my small condo.   I will accept indoor studio sessions for newborn and up to 1-year baby sessions preferrably only during the colder months if you are not comfortable with using your own home.

Some day….with lots and lots of referrals, I’ll have a nice big, loft studio….

How many people are allowed in a family session?… Can the grandparents and my brother’s family be included?

Up to 5 people are allowed per family session.  Additional people may be added for $20 each.  I welcome grandparents to join in the fun, its completely up to you.  However, I don’t recommend adding extended family members such as aunts, uncles, cousins, additional family units, etc., as I find it takes away from the focus of the session: Your Family.  You’re time with me is valuable, I want to make the most of it!

What is the best time of day to schedule our session?

I can schedule your session at just about any time of the day, but I find that the light is most beautiful during the “golden hours” … the three hours after sun-rise and three hours before sun-set and I highly recommend scheduling your session as close to these times if possible.  During the sunny, summer months, mid-day sessions must be held entirely in open shade only to avoid unattractive under-eye shadows and squinty eyes;)

What if the weather is bad at my session time?

If storms, heavy rain or blizzards keep you (and me) from getting to your session, we will work together to find another date/time for your session.  Keep in mind: Mild to moderate inclement weather can still lead to a fantastic and interesting session, however.  Can you picture it with me?…Colorful galoshes and fun umbrellas would be fantastic!

*Session Fees will not be refunded due to weather

How many images will we get to choose from?

Typically 25-30 images will be shown in your gallery.  Up to 40 if the session was just SO perfect in every way and I just can’t narrow it down!

How soon can I view my images?

Your private password-protected gallery should be ready within two weeks of your session date, perhaps sooner.

How does print and product ordering work?

Ordering from your gallery is easy.  Payments are taken via paypal, although you do not need a paypal account to use it.  You may also snail-mail me a personal check if you prefer.  Depending on what products are ordered, you should receive delivery within two weeks of ordering.  Books, storyboards and cards may take a little bit longer due to the potential back and forth process of approving the design.   Your gallery will be hosted for 14 days.  If left to expire without an order being place, a $25 rehosting fee will apply for a period of 7 days.

Minnesota State Sales Tax of 7.126% will be added to each order.

What should we wear?

My very most asked question!  I could write a book, but I’ll try and summarize;)  For families, I recommend complimenting outfits as opposed to matching ones in regard to both color and tone.  All-white items are best avoided… as are logos, characters and baggy or oversized clothes.  Layers add visual interest as do accessories such as scarves, hats, galoshes….anything really that helps bring out one’s personality!  Feel free to bring multiple items and I’ll help you put an ensemble together and narrow things down.

Check out the What to Wear page for some great inspiration.  A new edition is posted each month!   Also, a handful of fantastic vendor links are featured there, to help you shop and put together the perfect photo-shoot wardrobe;)

Can I use one of my images for my Facebook profile pic?

Each of your images that are ordered as print and products will be posted to my Facebook page… You are MORE than welcome to tag yourself in them!   It is appreciated that you do not crop out my watermark.

My baby is due in a few months… How do we schedule a newborn session?

A baby’s arrival is understandably unpredictable.  Newborn sessions are best done within the first two weeks after birth, so its crucial to let me know when you are due and other factors that may play into whether the baby might arrive early.  Then….and this is the most important part:  Call me from the hospital! ;)  I’m only half kidding, though… The sooner I know about bub’s arrival, the better chance of us getting the curly, sleepy poses that are so precious and sweet.
